Emily Giovine has always had a deep love for connection to movement; as yoga teacher and modern dancer, she has dedicated her life to the study of conscious ways of living in the body. She has trained extensively with Alison West in alignment-based yoga and anatomy, which she blends with her studies in Vinyasa with Schuyler Grant and years of teaching at Kula Yoga Project.

Her teaching practice is also shaped by her training in the Threes Physiyoga Method, which combines yoga theory with physical therapy principles, yoga for back care and scoliosis (with Elise Browning Miller) and postural assessment (with Zach Dacek). Her teaching style is informed by the clarity and rigor of Iyengar Yoga, the sensibility of Physiyoga, the creativity of her dance background, and the grounding magic of meditation and breathwork. In 2019, she founded Brooklyn Physiyoga, a private, in-person, and online practice. She continues to perform regularly, and studies with Genny Kapuler, Nikki Costello, and Abbie Galvin. Brooklyn Heights has been her home for nearly a decade, and she is thrilled to have a yoga home in her backyard. Thank you to Anna and to all the brilliant people of ONEYOGAHOUSE.

All of the wonderful people in it.
Favorite Brooklyn Hang Out Spot
Brooklyn Heights has been my home for nearly a decade, and I can’t get enough of the neighborhood’s charms.
What are you most passionate about outside of yoga?
Dance! And nature.
What about teaching yoga inspires you?
I think that connecting with the body through movement is deeply empowering. It is so inspiring to see people discover more about their bodies, their minds, their hearts, and their breath, and begin to transform.
