Marisa Martin received her 200-hour Vinyasa certification from Yoga Vida, where she also completed a five month intensive mentorship program. She went on to continue her studies in Trauma Sensitivity (Annie Piper), Restorative Yoga (Abby Paloma), and the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga (Nikki Costello).

She is further informed by her BFA in Dance from Fordham University/The Alvin Ailey School and long-time dance career. She has taught both privately and publicly in New York City and abroad.
Marisa’s teaching has been described as intuitive, compassionate, creative, and intelligent. She seeks to offer an environment that is supportive, warm, and welcoming to all. Marisa’s priority is to be fully present with her students in order to remain open to the possibilities of each moment. Classes draw from a wide range of influences and are taught at a mindful pace to allow for depth of understanding coupled with the joy of flowing movement.

What are you most passionate about outside of yoga?
Dance, the arts, people, all things related to the body – anatomy, biomechanics, neuroscience – and traveling!
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Learn to love and live your questions, rather than seek immediate answers. This is paraphrased from Rainer Maria Rilke’s “Letters to A Young Poet.” It reminds me to live with curiosity, openness, and vulnerability.
