UPCOMING MASTER CLASS
The Studious ONE: Props, Inversions, & Flow
This Master Class is geared towards a more seasoned practitioner who wants to increase fluidity in the body through mindful joint and spine work, fascial movement, sneaky muscle activation, and an intelligent vinyasa flow. We will use props to achieve the mastery of advanced poses such as inversions and arm balances. Expect music, creativity, and repetition as well as tools to sequence your own class if you’re a teacher or just need a quick reset for your day.
How did you find the yoga practice? What made you want to become a teacher yourself?
My first yoga class was with a friend who I went to grad school with. We were in the acting program at The New School and she suggested I try yoga because of how much I loved movement and the issues I had with my lower back. She taught us Ashtanga!
What inspires you the most about teaching?
The freedom of creativity within the boundaries of the body and the infinite teachings of yoga as a portal to creativity.
How would you describe your unique style?
Organized, different, fluid, and rooted.
Any specificities you like to geek out on or focus on within your teaching?
Joints and spine, fascial release, and strengthening….repetition, fluidity, and inversions!
You’ve led many master classes and advanced trainings…what is it like teaching other teachers? How do those classes differ?
Teachers are wonderful to teach. Their practice is refined and they are looking for a deeper connection as well as simple ways in. They challenge you to stay awake and to practice what you teach! You can feel them listening…

Expect to experience the magic of focus combined with movement and breath. We’ll start slow and simple then evolve into a boulevard of opportunities. It’ll be fun and different…
You describe your classes as “intelligently sequenced.” How do you sequence your classes?
Ha! That’s my little secret. Although I love sharing my secrets to those who are committed.
By intelligently sequenced I mean there is a method behind it all…
What’s most important when crafting your sequences?
Time, good music, molding study into inspiration to make what you’ve learnt an offering.
A moldable method.
Any advice to other teachers looking to be creative and intentional with their own sequences?
Taking class and your own home practice are essential. Every day either one, or both!
Many have a simplified view of props as only necessary for beginners or when someone can’t fully perform a posture. How have you found props to be effective for all practitioners? How do you teach and encourage a more integrative and supportive use of props?
I actually think props are both for beginners and advanced practitioners.
A prop is like a good friend. You need to let it support and strengthen you as well as grow with it: Giving and receiving with it.
We’re excited for your upcoming Master Class at ONEYOGAHOUSE. What can students expect from this experience?
Expect to experience the magic of focus combined with movement and breath. We’ll start slow and simple then evolve into a boulevard of opportunities. It’ll be fun and different…
What would you tell students who may feel intimidated?
The intimidation is a friend asking to transform, a dark road waiting to be lit.
